Shortly after entering Slab City, you come upon Salvation Mountain.
The mountain was created from adobe, straw and paint, lots and lots of paint. Slab City resident Leonard Knight obviously spent much of his time creating this artwork.
Mr. Knight passed away last year, and while volunteers are working on the upkeep, the environment is already taking its toll.
So, our visit may have offered us the chance to see Salvation Mountain at it’s peak.
