Carlsbad Caverns

We got up early, well early for Kathryn anyway, and headed over to Carlsbad Caverns. This is their off-season and we were also the first ones into the cavern for the day. This was a great time to visit since there weren’t any crowds. We entered via the natural entrance and walked down to Big Room.

IMGP0547Some of the formations are truly incredible.

IMGP0560The beauty of this world is just amazing, and we’re truly blessed to be able to enjoy so much of it.

After our cavern visit, we continued heading west along 82 to Alamogordo. This took us through Lincoln National Forest. This was a nice drive that took us through some mountains

Back in the mountains

where we got to see some snow alongside the road.

Look Mom! Snow!

But thankfully, our destination is warm enough that there won’t be any snow to contend with. We’re spending this week in Oliver Lee Memorial State Park just south of Alamogordo.

Our site for the week

It looks like we’re going to enjoy it here.
