We’ve enjoyed our time in Colorado, having spent six weeks exploring some of the beauty it offers, but the open road beckons. We also have another Airstream rally to attend in a couple weeks, so it is time to head south. This does mean leaving the majestic wonder of the Rockies, but we’ll be back.

As we make our way into New Mexico, we find that other wonders await us.

We’re going to be spending the next two weeks in the Albuquerque area and have pulled into the Enchanted Trails RV Park and Trading Post, located along Route 66.

While we still prefer state parks, staying here offers us several benefits. We have full hookups, we’re close to town, have excellent cell phone service, and we’re next door to where we’ll be meeting up with the attendees going to the Balloon Fiesta Rally held by the Four Corners Unit of the WBCCI. We’ve been looking forward to this rally for some time.

One other Airstream owner has already pulled in prior to going to the Balloon Fiesta. They’ve had their 2001 Bambi for a month and hail from Georgia.

Ready for the balloons

Also in Albuquerque is one of Mary’s brothers, Matt and his wife Laura. We’ve already been able to visit with them and their son David and will be spending more time with them during our stay here.

Between services on Sunday we walked around Old Town.

While here, Kathryn got to hold a snake.

No, you can't take it home!

We were able to make it out of Old Town having made only one purchase, pinion coffee for Mary. Amazing when you consider how many shops and street vendors are here.

There’s a lot more for us to do while in Albuquerque, so we’ll be staying busy.
